editorial rating
XM is built for beginners: a US$5 minimum on Standard and Ultra Low accounts, negative balance protection, hedging and Islamic terms as standard, free webinars and live education rooms, and copy trading. The entity shown on xm.com when we checked was XM Global Limited, licensed by the Belize FSC, which has no compensation scheme stated. Its headline ‘spreads as low as 0.8 pips’ is a floor rather than an average.

- Free webinars, live education rooms, Trading Central analysis and copy trading.
What to weigh up
- The entity xm.com showed us is regulated in Belize, and no compensation scheme is stated.
- The 0.8-pip headline is a minimum; third-party testing by ForexBrokers.com reports EUR/USD averages of about 1.1 pips on Ultra Low and 2.0 pips on Standard.
- No typical EUR/USD spread is published on xm.com, and the account page does not say which region or currency its minimums apply to.

Which entity are you joining?
xm.com serves different content by region, and our review saw the XM Global (Belize) view. XM’s Australian pages now redirect to trading.com/au and do not mention XM. Confirm the exact entity in your client agreement before you deposit.
Costs and pricing
XM’s homepage promotes spreads as low as 0.8 pips. The Ultra Low account is positioned as the low-cost option, and a Zero account with a USD 7 commission per USD 100,000 appears in XM’s CySEC costs document. XM lists a dormant fee of USD 5 a month after 90 days of inactivity. Third-party testing by ForexBrokers.com reports typical EUR/USD spreads of about 1.1 pips (Ultra Low) and 2.0 pips (Standard). Leverage of up to 1000:1 is stated on the offshore view.
Platforms, tools and education
XM offers MT4, MT5 and the XM App. It also offers copy trading, free webinars and live education rooms, Trading Central analysis, Reuters news, a podcast, an economic calendar and calculators. Islamic terms are standard on all accounts.
Deposits and withdrawals
XM states it does not charge fees on deposits or withdrawals (wire transfers under US$200 may incur provider fees) and processes requests within about 24 hours.
Regulatory record
We found no regulator fines against XM in the last four years. The only older item we found was a EUR 5,000 CySEC fine on Trading Point of Financial Instruments Ltd in June 2013 over client-fund provisions (Finance Magnates).
Who it suits
A good fit: Beginners who want a very low minimum, education and copy trading, and are comfortable with an offshore-regulated default entity or are eligible for the CySEC entity.
Look elsewhere if: Traders who want a compensation scheme, published average spreads, or a broker regulated by a tier-one authority for all clients.
