Learning them takes minutes and can save you the whole deposit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Red flags<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Guaranteed or &#8216;risk-free&#8217; returns.<\/strong> No regulated broker can promise profit.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Unsolicited contact.<\/strong> A stranger or &#8216;account manager&#8217; contacts you through social media, a dating app or a messaging app and steers you to a trading site.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Pressure to move to WhatsApp or Telegram<\/strong> and to deposit quickly, or to top up to unlock a bonus or avoid a &#8216;loss&#8217;.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Fake or missing regulation.<\/strong> No licence number, one that does not match the register, or a clone of a real firm&#8217;s website with a slightly different domain.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Withdrawal problems.<\/strong> You are asked to pay &#8216;tax&#8217;, &#8216;unlocking&#8217; or &#8216;verification&#8217; fees before you can withdraw.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Crypto-only or third-party payments<\/strong> to accounts that do not match the broker&#8217;s name.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Screenshots of profits<\/strong> used as proof, or a platform where profits appear on screen but cannot be withdrawn.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to check in a few minutes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Search the exact company name and licence number on the regulator&#8217;s own register.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Check the regulator&#8217;s warning list and IOSCO&#8217;s I-SCAN portal.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Compare the website address with the one on the register.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Search the broker&#8217;s name with &#8216;scam&#8217; or &#8216;withdrawal&#8217;, and treat glowing reviews with suspicion.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ask which legal entity will hold your account, and get it in writing.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">If you have already paid<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Stop sending money, including any &#8216;fee&#8217; to release funds.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Keep screenshots, chat logs, payment receipts and wallet addresses.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Contact your bank or card issuer immediately. Time limits for disputes are short.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Report it to your national financial regulator and to the police or fraud reporting service in your country.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be wary of &#8216;recovery&#8217; services that contact you and ask for an upfront fee. They are a second scam.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group bp-callout is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Key takeaway<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If it seems to be guaranteed, urgent or hard to withdraw, stop.
